As the remnants of summer fade, the reality of our routine schedules comes into focus. For some of us that means the start of a new job, for others it signals the start of a new school year. But one thing is certain—this Fall, with its gentle breezes and cooler weather, brings not only a clean slate but inspired Fall fashion to fill your wardrobe with.

Traditionally the “back-to-school” season, Fall brings functionality to its pieces and less vibrance than its flashy predecessor, Summer. But this Fall 2012, menswear designers turned expectations on their heads as they gave inspired interpretations of looks from decades past.

Some were inspired by the 1960s: designers like Dsquared2 took all of the finest trends from a decade of change, and gave them a modern twist. Others were inspired by the 1980s: putting a little more flare into traditional Fall pieces. But all were inspired by modernity and the transformation of traditional trends.

Essential for the Fall season, layering is seen to cope with the cooling weather. But along with layering, statement pieces that are loud enough to draw attention are also seen to draw the eye to the desired place. Through the mixture of textures, textiles and trends, designers have taken traditionally lovable pieces and given them new life.

And as the runways turned towards the sunset of all seasons, Fall, darker tones filled the racks— burgundies and blacks.  Toning down the vibrancy of Summer, colors speak less this season and statements are made with bold designs. So as summer sun sets, keep an eye out for modern pieces, traditional trends and flashy statements that will catch the eye of everyone at school!
