Love ice cream? Homemade ice cream is delicious and surprisingly easy to make. If you have a craving for it but don’t have any on hand you can make it yourself as long as you have cream and a few standard pantry staples. For those saying ‘I don’t have an ice cream maker’ or ‘I probably need all kinds of crazy ingredients’ or even ‘I can’t be bothered to wait for it to freeze’, just wait.

Avoid expensive, unnecessary equipment and follow these simple steps to make your own ice cream in minutes any time you desire! Warning: the following recipe is extremely addictive.

Directions

The quantities will be enough to make around one scoop of the frozen creamy stuff, so just make your own perfect recipe adjusting your quantities depending on how much you’re craving.

Take a small sized sealable (Ziploc type) bag and add 1/2 cup of milk, and 1 tbsp of sugar. Seal it up, getting rid of as much air as you can. Now double bag it inside a similar-sized bag. Throw 4 cups of crushed or cubed ice with 6 tbsp of salt (we need it to lower the freezing point of water) in a large freezer bag. You can use any kind of salt. Put in your little double bag, and seal the large bag around it, getting rid of as much air as possible. Wrap the bag in a tea towel, or use gloves, and just shake the bag for at least five minutes before checking on its progress.

You’ll start to notice it’s getting thicker by simply feeling through the bag. In eight minutes max, you should have some seriously delicious ice cream; it will take longer if you are mixing a large batch.

When you remove the smaller bag, wipe it down carefully to get rid of all the salt on the outside.

You can also add some more flavour to your ice cream simply adding some fruit puree towards the end of the process, some vanilla extract or even a spoon or two of ready-made fudge sauce. You can also try substituting cream in place of milk for a bit more calorie dense, but super yummy treat. Enjoy!
