The metrosexual man has become a common personality in our society, and an ever-growing range of products are being released to accommodate their needs

Over the last decade, the metrosexual man has become a cherished addition to our modern society. Plenty of men now have a 3 step skin routine as well as an in depth hair ritual, so it’s no wonder that makeup companies are becoming increasingly aware of men’s cosmetic needs and are adapting their products to suit the male population.

We all like to have beautiful skin, and with the summer coming up, men are becoming ever more aware about the importance of SPF skin care to protect their skin. Protecting your skin is imperative, but with the recent influx of tinted moisturisers, there’s no better time for men to start adding a hint of colour to their skin routine to obtain a light tan for summer or to simply even out their complexion.

Many men think that tinted moisturisers are the same as foundation, and therefore the product will leave a heavy layer of colour on their skin as well as a clear indication of cosmetic use. This isn’t the case, as tinted moisturisers are purposefully designed as a light alternative to foundation and are catered to those who are just looking to add a subtle tint of colour to their face. The product is primarily a moisturiser (usually containing SPF) that contains a moderate amount of colour, just enough to add a fine layer of tint that will blend seamlessly with your natural skin tone. The consistency is much thinner than foundation and blends easily into your skin, which makes it a perfect choice for males because it won’t show up in facial hair or on rougher skin. The moisturiser also hydrates the skin and leaves it with a healthy glow, which, together with the tint, will result in a luminous, even skin tone that will be a perfect sexy summer look.

Apply the product all over the face down to the jaw line. Blend around the jaw line to ensure that there are no lines or streaks, and that’s it! Replace your usual morning moisturiser with an SPF tinted moisturiser and you’ll have glowing summer skin in one easy step.

Tip: SPF can make products greasier than normal, so if you find that your skin looks slightly too shiny (or you just apply too much), use a tissue to blot the excess product off of your face. Just dab the tissue over the excess moisture and that will eliminate any shine.
