Things change, trends change. Five years ago, I would have never believed you if you told me that I would be wearing socks in my sandals in 2012. Surprisingly, I am totally in love with this trend, which will reach its apogee this season. It’s simple; I can’t imagine shoes without socks anymore. Lace, ruffles, patterns, cotton, wool, pink, mint, yellow, brown: ankle socks are created for all tastes and styles.
If you’re a girly kind of conservative person, you might want to begin with white lace or cotton socks. You can match them easily with your watch, purse or eyewear frame. I suggest you wear them with cropped boyfriend pants or mid-calf skirts. You can also combine ankle socks to nylons and a shorter dress, or even shorts. Don’t hesitate to vary your shoe styles and colors depending on what you’re wearing.
When you’re comfortable with the idea, why not add a little bit of color by matching your socks to a piece of clothing. Creating outfits from similar shades of color can be really interesting and nevertheless elegant. Add open-toe pumps or sandals for a perfect spring punch.
Maybe frills, ruffles and lace don’t match your style. So I suggest you dare patterns. Stripes, polka dots and flowers are just some of the patterns you can integrate to your daily outfits. They particularly look great with denim and solid colors if you want to keep the focus on the socks, but you can also mix different flowers or plaid patterns on purpose for a more eccentric look.
You absolutely have to find a way to adapt this trend to your personal style because it’s the ideal first step for preparing to summer season.
