Flipping through lookbooks and flaunting it on the runway, the vibrant spring citrus that awaits is hard to miss. Bright Spring flairs are always essential, but unlike robin blue or coral, tangerine has danger written all over it. A color that is polarizing in nature, orange generally elicits the strongest “love it” or “hate it” emotion out of any color in the spectrum.

H&M’s Spring line shows all of the reasons that tangerine will work for you. Blending it with neutral tones of white and vibrant turquoise, the tangerine makes a clear statement.

The main goal when putting an outfit together should be to look polished, sleek, and chic, so why would you want to look like you are “under construction”? Sporting tangerine year-round construction workers clearly know the meaning behind the color: caution. A color that represents biohazard, and obviously screams for attention, orange is not an ordinary addition to an outfit. Easily crossing the border between fashionable and cautional, the boundaries to orange require an understanding of the connotations that are inherently attributed to the color.

Adorning an outfit with a splash of orange is not a worry, but if you plan to drape yourself in shades of citrus from head to toe, DON’T. Keeping colors moderate and responsibly integrating them is key. An amazing pop to any outfit, tangerine will undoubtedly be a wonderful addition to your wardrobe, but how much is too much?

A citrus tinge in your lips will transform your look no matter how dull and drab your clothes may be, so if you like sticking with Winter shades, then add a little spark with some Spring lipstick.

Transferring the couture looks from the runways to the streets is often a task made for professionals. But lucky for you a few little tips will let you achieve the citrus chic that fits your wardrobe. As usual with color trends, the simplest approach is accessorizing. Adding some zesty orange bangles, a headband, or heels to an already adorable outfit will brighten up your look and surely make you the center of attention.

Christian Louboutin amongst other designers are offering you a way to stomp in the Spring with citrus stilettos and heels for days.

For clothing with a tangerine twist, focus on the pop of color instead of blocking. A little goes a long way, and because of orange’s intensity you don’t want to overwhelm the senses. An intensely orange outfit may just be too much for people to handle, and with reason. So choose a piece or two at max and don’t feel drenched in citrus. Pairing your outfits with an orange skirt, a tangerine belt, or even a blended citrus dress will give you a fascinating look without being too overpowering.

Nail color to draw attention to every outfit.

And what if the clothes and accessories are too bold for your taste? Try some citrus on your nails or your lips. Tangerine polish will give your nails an interesting flair if your outfit is lack luster, and a lip color with a tint of orange will give you a vibrant alluring look that will have men falling for you.

Whatever you choose to do, as with any controlled fashion substance, be responsible and with all hopes fashionable. Add some zest to your Spring, and be on the lookout for some more of the hottest trends popping up this upcoming season.

Some Michael Kors runway hits and misses to take into account. The sleek and chic dress on the left show you all of the wonder and attention that orange can draw, but eventhough the other two to the right drew in crowds for fashion week, they elicit the “caution” feeling from a mile away.
