Alternative Rock band Nylon Sky has been making some noise on the underground music scene in the UK for quite some time but with their new record deal that noise is about to become a whole lot louder.

Made up by Tony Humphries (Vocal’s), Tom Vernon (Lead Guitar), Stuart Brooker (Drums) and Nai-ik Ogue (Bass Guitar), Nylon Sky’s journey has seen them grow from High School talent show performers to headliners at places like The Underworld Camden, London. The four pieces started gigging at the end of 2006, and by 2008, they earned their place as part of the Surface Unsigned Festival Final. Since then, they gained a reputation for an intense live show and a down to earth connection with their fans. Seeing their recent record deal and their music video for ‘Beauty Is A Monster’ becoming a fast growing YouTube hit, Madly Juicy decided to catch up with the lead singer, Tony, to talk about a new EP and the group’s 2012 UK tour.

MadlyJuicy: What is the reason you got into music?

Tony: So many, I think it was easier for me to express myself that way. Music is like my therapist and I guess once I started talking I could not stop.

MJ: How much of your own personal experiences play a part in the music that you make?

Tony: All of it, whether it’s my opinion on something or something to do with my life, all of our hearts and souls go into the music, so it’s always personal.

Mj: Which other bands/musical icons have inspired yourself and your band mates the most?

Tony: So many artists, we all love so many different styles of music. If I had to name one band/musician for each of us right now, mine would be Jim Morrison, Tommy V’s would be John 5, Stu’s would be Alter Bridge and Nai-ik’s would be Incubus.

MJ: The Official music video for ‘Beauty Is A Monster’ has racked up over 1,200 views on YouTube in less than a week, are you pleased with the response so far?

Tony: Of course, it’s insane to know people actually like us!

MJ: How did it feel when you got your record deal?

Tony: It’s funny you know, I can remember being really happy for about 5 minutes, then I just started working harder than ever before. I get random bursts of excitement when I actually think about it, but like I said I’m always working, so most of the time I’m on to the next thing.

MJ: If you could choose any venue to perform at, where would it be and why?

Tony: To be honest we are just happy to play, so the venue is not that much of a big deal, playing download would be f****** cool though!

MJ: How much can you tell us about your EP you’re currently working on and a UK tour?

Tony: Our EP is going to be insane. We are very proud of our first EP; we were all teenagers when we wrote it though and now we are older and have Nike (Nai-ik’s nickname) in the band we have just evolved so much. The UK tour will be great too. It’s crazy to think our music is going to take us to places in this country we have never been.

MJ: You have a very good connection with your fans; do you think it’s important to keep that connection as the band grows?

Tony: Yes 100%. First and foremost we are all fans of music and we always will be, so we know what it is like to be a fan. We are just lucky enough to be on the other side of the barricade. Without our fans we would be nothing.

MJ: If you were on ‘My Super Sweet 16′ what would your birthday party be like?

Tony: I would just play a fat show, have all my loved ones there and make all the people who have been on that show be our waiters and cleaners for the night.

MJ: Where do you see Nylon Sky in 5 years time?

Tony: Playing music and having fun. We live, love and breathe music so we will just continue with our awesome job.

MJ: If you could describe Nylon Sky’s Journey in one word what would it be?

Tony: Rollercoaster.

MJ: If you could give one piece of advice to any other band trying to break into the music industry what would it be?

Tony: Just be yourself; so many people are trying so hard to be different and they always end up being the same. Try not to think too much about music, just feel it.
