As I continue on my endless journey through the style streets of Montreal this summer, I am excited to discover this year’s edition of the Fashion and Design Festival. This event encompasses the art of the city’s emerging talent, along with displaying clothing from the various boutiques of brands that have made Montreal their home.
The activities of FMDM 2011 will start on Wednesday, August 3rd and finish on Saturday the 6th. This culmination of fashion all takes place at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and McGill College Streets, in the heart of downtown. Along with items from seasoned designers Denis Gagnon, Marie Saint Pierre and Barila, street side spectators will be able to see looks from stores such as Forever 21, Terra Nostra and Reitmans. This is not to forget that FMDM also exists to promote the growth of upcoming talents within the community, collections featuring schools LaSalle College and Cegep Marie Victorin will captivate audiences as they get a peak at the creativity of the youth of today.
Needless to say, numerous contributors will be present throughout the festivities. But other attractions for the fashion adventurous will be taking place along the runways, such as the FMDM Pop-Up Designer Boutique. Allowing the garments of countless creators to be purchased at affordable prices any fashionista would enjoy.
